 Ancient History Lesson One

Creation and Garden of Eden

History began at creation. Even though there are many ancient civilizations that speak to a” creation” in their own legends, the Bible presents us with a history of God's creative acts. God created ex nihilo -- “out of nothing”- which stands in contrast to all other so-called creation epics of other ancient civilizations.

At creation, God began the process of social engineering His Will, revealing the power of his Word in each of the creative acts. In other words, when God gives his Word, that Word decrees performance, in this case the actual creation of the elements of the material universe. The Bible use the term “yom” – translated “day”-- and references a 24-hour duration. The basis for understanding why must be 24 is presented also in this lesson.

In addition to all of this, this lesson pursues and defines what is meant by “image of God in man” and why that distinguishes us from the rest of material creation including the animals. This lesson further demonstrates that from the very beginning, Adam Ennis help me either, as a married couple, or called to put in place the foundations for a civilization which be a direct reflection of God's Will and the beauty of his Goodness in all details of life. This will set the stage for the rise of the “culture carriers” which is really the genius of the Christian approach to life and godliness. Such culture carriers will be developed in lessons ahead. However, the nature of righteousness and the resources in the garden there were designed by God to give out any the necessary means for fulfilling is Calling in them are introduced. One of the first major “culture carriers”was the institution of marriage, which can only be fulfilled through obedience to the precepts of the Lord, and that only by his grace.

 Ancient History Lesson 2

Man's Advanced State

Biblical Presupposition: the Bible teaches that man was advanced -- not primitive -- in his capacities, abilities, and nature. Being made in the image of God means that every man and woman is advanced and powerful in their capacity to do advanced thinking and establish a way of life both individually and within a society.

The lesson begins with examination of the 1513 A.D. Piri Reis Map which demonstrates a commands knowledge of the underlying geography of Antarctica. The map, ancient in origin, using evolutionary models. The map demonstrates a very accurate knowledge the contours of the geography of Antarctica at a time which there was not a mile high level of ice covering continent.

This is but one of many facts which we used to demonstrate in this lesson and in the lessons ahead the biblical worldview presupposition that man is advanced and is in no way be considered “animal” by nature.

Ancient History Lesson 3

Ancient history: The Fall of Adam and Eve

The Fall of Adam and Eve is one most important presuppositions for the proper understanding of history. It is most important understand the temptation “Ye shall be as gods to know the difference between good and evil” and what that means in the heart of men and women. And, of course, it involves a presumption that in some way God's commands are foolish, flawed, and not worthy of obedience. That assumption leads then many women throughout history to presume to undertake their own solutions, creating rebellious worldview systems of thinking and civilizations.

Understanding this history in the Garden of Eden, gives a firm basis for what happens at the history of men and nations. A clear understanding of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil as well as an understanding of the Tree of Life, will help us to understand man's nature and the purpose of “civilization” itself. We will see that this historical event in the Garden of Eden will give us light and understanding all throughout our study of the ancient world.   Cross Discipline book: The Paw of the Lion (a CD set, presenting a serious appraisal of “Satan’s methods and approaches to ruinous attacks upon the lives of men and nations.

Ancient History Lesson 4

Romans 8 Vanity

Ancient History: “The World Looks Empty”

One of the objections made against Christian faith that the world appears to be "meaningless". There is truth to that statement in light of the fact that the Fall of man in the Garden, we are told that God "subjected the world to vanity" (Romans 8). In other words, the very beginning of man's existence, men and nations have sought the "reason" and "purpose" (meaning) of the world around them. It's not that the world has no meaning or purpose. It does. But God so subjected the world around us with the APPEARANCE of EMPTINESS that the only way in which civilization is going to find the meaning of the world around us is to look to God's Government in the Earth, i.e., God has ordained a Monopoly for his Word, the Bible.

It is Calling of the Church of Christ that we explain the world around the capital and Government of Triune God.

The truths presented in this lesson demonstrate the necessity for all of civilization to learn to embrace the Christian worldview as taught in the Word of God. Adam and Eve were given abundant resources in the Garden the. Why was that? The answer's simple: Adam and Eve were to begin the process of introducing and building a Civilization and reflected the Goodness of God and the glory of Jesus Christ. Romans 8 tells us that the creation is subject not only to the God ordained APPEARANCE of EMPTINESS, but also creationist subject to the bondage of corruption and a deep, unutterable sorrow and "groaning”. Romans 8 also informs us that the following creation around us "weights for the manifestation of the sons of God". In other words, God is subjected the creation of the world to emptiness and the appearance of meaninglessness so that His Church, once it appears in place after place, as the ONLY Truth sufficient to supply a STANDARD for Righteousness.

Ancient History Lesson 5

Ancient History: Where is the Builder?

All throughout the history of civilization, there have been those who asked the question, "Where's the Builder?" Granted, they don't ask it in that manner but they ask it nonetheless. What is meant by this question is simple: the world is obviously well-designed but where is the Designer, Creator… in short, where is God?

The Greek philosophers asked this question different ways. Socrates became notorious to Athens because he undercut the presence, authority and alleged powers of the gods and goddesses of the country. He is like so many other philosophers, politicians, historians, religious leaders and scholars -- ancient and modern -- who concluded that anyone “foolish” enough to build such a well-designed Masterpiece as the world in which we live, and not be a good steward in maintaining it he will, simply cannot be Real.

Historians -- ancient and modern -- failed to realize that there's another option, another reason why God does not walk among us, and appears distant to mankind. Could it be that God is "offended" with us?

The Birth of the Modern

The Birth of the Modern

Lesson 1. Defining the Birth of the Modern

Many people are confused as to how to read the 20th and 21st centuries. There are so many differences of opinion concerning some the most commonly known events and processes of the modern world.

The Birth of the Modern is a course that begins by tracing the roots of the modern world. Without understanding the roots, events, and processes that arose since the time of the end of the Middle Ages, there will be a failure to grasp the monumental truth associated with the 20th and 21st centuries.
This course will examine, not just the political events of the last five centuries, but the emphasis will be upon the social (including economic and religious) trends, movements, and events of the era. We begin here by examining the impact upon the world of the late Middle Ages, the shattering of fact and the impact of a “justifying faith in Jesus Christ.”Do you understand the enormous impact that single area of understanding from Scripture had upon the modern world (and still does!).

Furthermore, the enormous impact of the Word of God is also traced out as well

The Birth of the Modern

Lesson 2. Birth of the Modern: Feudalism, Breeding Ground of Socialism from the Middle AgesSocialism is really nothing more than Monopolistic Capitalism. Many use the term capitalism thinking they are describing a biblical frame of political economy. Capitalism originally was a term invented by socialist theorists and the biblical Christian should understand, on the one hand, that well-intentioned individuals and even Christians will use the term, but on the other hand, realize it is perhaps better to refer to a free market economy when describing the Bible's approach to economics or political economy.

Feudalism was the breeding ground of poverty and socialism all throughout the Middle Ages. The economic blight of slavery, which has plagued many Western nations including the United States, arose directly out of the thinking and theory of feudalistic Europe of the Middle Ages.

Lesson 3

Birth of the Modern: The serf and the poverty of feudalism!

Modern historians tend to gloss over the tragic impoverishment of Europe during the 1200 years of the Middle Ages. They tend even praised feudalism to some extent, which bears out the consistent observation that historians make the poorest economists.

In this lesson, we will see why Europe is impoverished for 1200 years. We will see the ideas and ideals that tragically role in the lives of countless millions of people during that 1260 year era.

The feudal serf was so heavily controlled by the monopolistic power of the nobility that ruled over him, being thoroughly controlled in the following manner:

disallowed from travel,

migration to other opportunities,

selection of services outside the lord’s demesne

selection of spouse including primae noctis

legally disallowed from passing on an inheritance to his children

heavily taxed, always in excess of 50% of income but usually much much more

Medieval Chruch tithes

liability to voluntary labor on behalf of those who rule the serf

and a host of other regulations and encumbrances

If you listen unfortunately is contributed mightily to the rise of many strands of modern thinking. Understanding this institution will help understand the rise of the modern era.

Lesson 4

Birth of the Modern: Guild Socialism

Of utmost importance to understanding the modern world was a carryover effect of Guild Socialism. Gil Socialism controlled towns and cities commerce, prices, police, roads and highways, harbors... and therefore the politics of the towns and cities.

Guild Socialism has influenced all aspects of our modern society. The concept of the "just price", taken from the Roman Medieval Church and embedded in modern economic thinking, has been ruinous to the rise of progress and trade. Guild Socialism is influenced many of the following categories of society:

• Price theory and price controls by the state
• Wages and salary
• Theory of labor (the toward socialistic views such as Marxism)
• Classical economics
• Theory of value
• Structure of society
• Political economy
… and many other areas.

This lesson introduces us to the subject so vital to understanding the modern world.

Lesson 5

Birth of the Modern: the Witness of the Middle Ages

All throughout the Middle Ages God did keep a witness for the sake of the truth. Ambrose of Milan was one most powerful preachers and teachers of the Nicene Age. Because of the powerful impact of his life, the truth concerning…

• a justifying faith in Jesus Christ
• the supremacy of the Word of God
• Independence of the churches
• the rejection of the Roman claimed to headship of the churches
• a proper view of the sacraments (they rejected the presence of God in the sacraments as opposed to God's representation in the sacraments).

There were many groups who remained aloof from the Roman dominion. Such groups as the Waldenses and the Albigenses maintained a witness for the truth over and against the utter darkness of the Middle Ages. There were quite a few others who maintained a testimony to the truth and this lesson examines their testimony.

God and Government Lesson 1

1. What is government?

It is not confined to, say,  “Washington D.C” or “Madison, Wisconsin”. Government is not confined to what most people think when they hear the term “government”. Government, in the broadest biblical sense, refers to an act of legitimate rule. “Governance” (the act or process of ruling) involves multiple kinds of “governments”:

• The individual, being made in God's image, is given the laws of God as his or her operating standard. Being made in God's image, God gives us the capacity to rule the world around us. The so-called “conscience” references the seat of such rule, where the standard for the individuals worldview and conduct is found.

• Marriage establishes a government wherein a husband and wife become the foundation for family. Family government is also a legitimate seek a rule the exercise of authority under God.

• Business government is given by God the editorial ownership risk taking and rule in the production of goods and services, with its primary goal productivity and service stewardship to overcome the Curse.

• Civil government -- which most people consider to be the whole of governance -- is, actually a very small part of governance, though an extremely important function of God's government in the earth.

• Church government refers to God's ordained approach to rule in the Church of Jesus Christ. It is also a legitimate government in the governance of the world around us. God has given it also purpose and design is vital for understanding the nature of Truth.

In all matters of governance, a distinction must be made between the triune God who is Ultimate in Authority and those governments which he has empowered and legitimized, being therefore DERIVED in their authoritative use and rule of the world around them. This one of the most important issues to be understood by Christian people when dealing with the concept of “government”.

God and Government: The New Birth (Regeneration) is the only sound basis for government Lesson 2

Biblical Presupposition: Government is used in the Bible referring to several different kinds of governments that God has instituted among men. Government, as exercised by individuals, is derived in authority, being bounded to God's will in the exercise of that authority. God Will is revealed in his Word -- the Bible. Only God is Ultimate in Authority. All governments underneath his authority must be exercised according to His Will, as revealed in his Word.

The new birth -- called Regeneration -- is brought to mankind through the message of the Gospel. The Gospel does not just teach that women how to “go to heaven”. Regeneration provides the real basis for proper government, and that the Holy Spirit teaches wisdom and righteousness which are the only sound foundations for ANY KIND of Government -- be it family government, church government, business government, our civil government. The regenerated heart of the Christian teaches new affections and new SERVICE, seeking both please and love God as well as our neighbor. That INTENT is the only sound basis for any kind of governance.

God and Government: Autonomous Rule vs. The Art of Christian Self-governance Lesson 3

The Art of Christian – governance is grounded in the fear of God. That “fear of the Lord” makes us diligent to understand how God's word is to be applied to the world around. In other words, Christians are called to be the world's problem solvers  (“salt of the earth”). But Christians are also to be “vigilant” , on guard and to defend the Truth: “Ready to give an answer for the hope that is in us.”

However, there is a counterfeit to the art of Christian self-governance. That counterfeit is wrapped up in the word “autonomy”.  Autonomy is a word developed from two Greek words meaning “self” plus “law, rule”.  Autonomy refers to the fact that an individual will declare himself or herself “self ruled”, having no outside Standard binding their hearts. Autonomy often looks like “self-government” and even acts like it at times. But it knows nothing of the “fear of the Lord”, hence no's no standard except the self willed, lawless heart of the autonomous individual.

 God and Government Lesson 4

God and Government: The major elements of "Government"

There are five major elements that need to be considered when dealing with any of the governments God has called forth: marriage/family government, church government, civil government, business (and voluntary associations) government, individual government (each individual person). The five elements need to be understood are the following:

• Jurisdiction
• Representation
• Law
• Sovereignty
• Continuity

God and Government: Lesson 5

The Attack on the Modern Family

The modern world has not been able to obliterate either physical marriage or the biblical family. Communist Russia under Lenin and Stalin attempted to do that very thing and failed. Modern humanistic approach is to reeducate and command the loyalty of this generation as Hitler did with Hitler Youth in the 1930s. Hitler was,to  the large extent successful. Modern humanism is copying much of what the Nazis did with  government schools, college university educational system, social networks, and the media.

Different forms of marriage and the family are being legitimized by the State in an attempt to subordinate the family and marriage under statist control. The very life of the Christian faith is at stake in this culture war and Christianity must revitalize the authority of the family and marriage.

The problem has not been so much that other forms of "marriage" and "family" have been so successful. It is the case that the post-World War II Christian Church in the United States failed in their mission to uphold, teach, and train the people in the pews concerning marriage and the family. The failure of the generation of the 1950s and 60s led to the rise of a rebellious generation which challenged the values of the older generation. The final result was that same 60s generation has now raised families and rules over the culture. The result of this has been a "Marriage Plague" in which people entering into marriage have no idea what is required to make it work. More to the point, our generation has no concept -- even in the churches -- of how marriage was constituted by God to REPRESENT  Jesus Christ, to the Community Roundabout Is a Witness of the Truth. Consequently, Even for Christian Families, Marriage Means Little More Than Having Children, Being Moral, Establishing a Place to Live, and culturing family love and devotion.

There is much more to marriage and the family, in its Representative capacity (Ephesians 5), than the churches are teaching. The result has been a massive fallout and destruction of Christian Worldview thinking and practice.
